Getting More Traffic to Your Crochet Blog with Pinterest

A "pin-able" photo
A “pin-able” photo

As you know, I’ve been participating in Sara Duggan’s 2013 31 Days of Crochet Business Blogging Challenge. Today’s post at her site is about the social media website, Pinterest, and how to increase traffic to your crochet blog with “pin-able” photos.

It just so happens that I wrote a post about this very subject as a guest blogger on Sara’s site. You can check it out here.

I've been crocheting for over 40 years and blogging since 2004 - two of my favorite things in the world to do besides walking the beaches of windward Oahu, Hawaii.

  • Great Article!
Yes…I sure did take notes! 🙂

    • Hi Zamarah, I’m glad you found the post useful. I learned a lot from writing it. I’ve taken some lousy photos in the past, so now I know how to make them a little better. Thanks for taking the time to read and comment.

  • Patrice, thank you so much for writing on my blog. I agree with ZaMarah, great article and definitely one where note taking will take place. Pinned – love the freeform.

  • I so enjoyed your article on Sara’s blog, Patrice. Pinterest is one of my fav places and definitely addictive. Your comments about taking “pinable” photos were very helpful and I love the photo you have posted above as an example. Who can pass up an opportunity to pin that photo? 🙂

    • Glad you found the article useful, Karen. I have been so bad at taking photos in the past that I promised myself I’d learn how to take better ones. It’s not rocket science – just a few tweaks and you have some decent photos. I was hoping that photo of the freeform purse flap was “pin-able.” One of the better ones I’ve taken, but it had to be good for the online exhibit so I took some time with it.

  • Hello Patrice, I found your blog this morning by clicking a photo on Pinterest (thought you’d like to know that 🙂
I have tweeted about your hub article about publishing crochet patterns to Kindle, which I thought was excellent and included a link to your blog too. I’m new to Twitter. I read many crochet blogs and have bookmarked yours as it is very relevant and full of quality information (thankyou). Regards, from the UK where we have 8″ of snow in the garden 😉

    • Hello Mandy, all the way from the UK!! Thanks so much for reading and sharing my articles. I’m so glad you are finding them useful. My goal has always been to create useful, informative content, and your comment lets me know I am on the right track.

And isn’t Pinterest great?!! I am truly addicted, but I’m also realizing what a great vehicle it is for getting the word out about my blog and other crochet content.

I hope you are enjoying the snow. I have been living in Hawaii for six years now (originally from Washington DC) and miss it … well, sometimes I miss it :-). Day and night time temps don’t get below the low 70s/60s, but it rains a lot this time of the year.

Anyway, I do appreciate your checking out the blog and hope to see more of you in the future. Take care and aloha!
